Heavy Weighs the King is Carmen Keigans and Brian Whitman, Orangeburg, SC natives who came up together in I Nine — signed to J Records / RCA, with "Same in Any Language" closing out Cameron Crowe's Elizabethtown — before the band dissolved and they stepped away from the industry altogether. A decade later they started again on their own terms: a duo, a new name, and a record sold straight from the band with no label in between.
